Kristi to answer your question (sorry couldn't manage to figure out a way to email you back) the pattern is from a Fleisher's kit published in 1952. My aunt's mother-in-law made them for me, my brothers and all my cousins back in the 70's and 80's she hasn't knit for a few years and when she found out I was knitting she sent me the pattern so I could make them for my nephews. I'm just hoping none of my cousins want them for their kids... I'd feel guilty charging them but would have to do it anyway!

Aren't they cute! I laughed at myself because I knit them in age order - it probably would have been wiser to knit the two for Owen and Noah first since they need to be mailed.

Over the weekend

This is what I accomplished on Friday night - I was glad to have gotten past the bricks they seemed to be holding me up...

and this is what I finished between Saturday and Sunday - I'm hoping to have this one knitted by

tomorrow and then start weaving end in on Wednesday then just one more stocking and mittens before Christmas...

All I have to do is wrap it... so I measured it last night and apparently if you measure 44 inches and then knit 20 more rows that makes it 40 inches in total? So I"m not sure if I made my final dimensions as apparently I affected the time space continuum but what can you do?

Tonight I'm working on Noah's stocking I'm only to the bricks still and need to finish so I can start doing my other stuff - hopefully the stocking won't be affected by the time space continuum.

I'm up to 44 inches with afghan that needs to be done Saturday - which means hopefully (considering what else I have to finish by the end of the month) that I'll finish it tonight!
Then I can resume Noah's stocking - start and finish another stocking and my mom's mittens...

Panic

Panic has definetely set in. There aren't that many days until Christmas and I decided to have a party and that gives me until the 10th to have Cheryl & Dave's afghan finished... yes that's right 11 days... oops. So I've knit about 10 more rows but I haven't measured it again - I'm fairly certain it hasn't grown 20 inches but you can never be sure.
I haven't knit an additional stitch on Noah's stocking either, probably not a good sign for the days to come...

Stocking for Noah

Here's what little I have done on stocking nummber 3. I did all the progress down from the cuff on Thursday at knitting, but did manage to do 5 stitches this weekend, with that kind of progress there is no stopping me anytime soon!

I did 4 rows on the afghan and it basically looks that same as it did before - just 20 more inches and I'll be done - and I started the thing in March... yes March...

Slacker

So guess how much work I've done on stocking #3 - that's right absolutely none all week. I have accomplished only the first 8 rows I did on Sunday. I also haven't worked on the afghan for over a week. It seems the closer it gets to christmas the more of a slacker I become.

Okay so here's my very unorganized group of photos. I got all 90 end woven in (okay I may have tied 5 or 6 knots where need be) and everything seamed up - I tried to upload a seaming photo but after four attempts it seems that (okay that just struck me as funny) Blogger doesn't want me to so no more attempts at uploading that one. As you can see I have 2 of the 3 Christmas stockings done and it's not even Thanksgiving - see starting in May really does help... well I start number 1 in may finished it in June and then didn't start number 2 until recently but still...
I also started Christmas stocking number 3 bravely. I have to tell my brothers their kids can't have names that are more than five letters.
I also drew a pattern to make a stained glass panel for on of my co-workers as a belated wedding gift hopefully I'll have that done next weekend.
So for Christmas I have one stocking left, the afghan to finish, and my mom's mittens to make that doesn't seem so bad the mittens will go really quickly I can finish those in a night or two - I may take those on Thursday to knitting club.

Look I actually took pictures : ) Here's the throw I am making for Cheryl it's around 32x59 now. I think I bought way too much yarn.
And here's where I am on the front and back of Jonah's stocking... I'm to the home stretch knitting wise and then the dreaded weaving in the ends will begin.

So - I am to the heel of stocking number 2... yipee! I'm hoping to finish number 2 this week and start working on #3 next week and have it finished sometime before December... I'll take a picture of my progress tonight!

So I think I hit some weird growth spurt in the afghan I knit like 20 rows and it grew 7 inches. I had knit 114 rows before last night and it was 21 inches long oh well - I guess it's better than the knitting black hole where you knit and knit and knit and the project never gets any longer.

Christmas Projects so far...

Here's the afghan I am making for my aunt Cheryl and my uncle Dave. It's made of Lion Brand Homespun which isn't the nicest yarn to work wtih but it looks really pretty. They also have two cats so it needed to be something washable. Right now it's about 19"x59". Apparently my guage changed based on my gauge swatch it was supposed to be 48" and it turned into 59" so I think I'm going to knit it to 40"x60" or so which means I'm almost halfway done. Maybe 48"x60" would be a better dimension.

Here's a picture of Jonah's Christmas stocking. I'm about half way done. I'm almost done with the most complicated part once you get down to Santa's legs there are fewer color changes and it goes a lot faster. Turning the heal and doing to toe are really easy. I'm really not a big fan of doing intarsia... the back ends up a huge mess tons of ends to weave in but they are cute stockings and they are the ones my brothers and I have to it will be worth it in the end.

The last one only took about 25 hours to seam and weave in the ends. Hopefully this one will go more quickly!

Christmas Stocking

okay so knitting meetup last night guilted me into working on my stocking more - I got about 20 more rows done so that was good - Santa is almost finished up to his legs so about 1 1/2 stocking done 1 1/2 to go...
no more progress on the afghan and I didn't cast on the mittens for my mom - I don't think those will take too long...
I think the afghan has to be done by December 10th so I should finish the stockings, then the afghan before I start the mittens...

Here's my gift blog : ) I've been dying to post Christmas gift pictures and haven't been able to in case someone reads them so now I have a chance too...

Here's the Dalegarn Sisik in Ruby and Aubergine. The Aubergine is going to be a gift for my mom. My grandmother used to make them cabled mittens every winter so I'm going to make her some for Christmas. The Ruby is for me... like I needed more yarn... it's just so pretty and it was on sale at littleknits.com - and Sue is so nice.
